Travel to the Netherlands by air

A large number of airlines operate flights to and from the Netherlands. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the major airport and there are some smaller ones: Rotterdam The Hague Airport, Eindhoven Airport, Maastricht Aachen Airport and Groningen Airport Eelde.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the national carrier of the Netherlands serving more than 150 worldwide destinations.

Transportation from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam city center

Schiphol Airport train station is located right below the airport. It takes only a couple of minutes to walk from the arrival halls to Schiphol Plaza. There you will see escalators and elevators going down to the platforms.

Dutch Railways has a frequent connection between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Central Station. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Find the train times on the Dutch Railways website journey planner and buy your ticket before boarding the train to avoid a penalty.

Taxi service is available 24 hours from the airport to the city center. Please make sure you avoid unlicensed taxis. Also do not allow taxi drivers to approach you at Schiphol Plaza.

Pre-order a taxi, microbus (4-6 passengers) or minibus (6-8) passengers and have a driver waiting for you. The English speaking driver will even wait for you in case of flight delay. Another advantage of this service is because you paid online in advance, the taxi driver cannot take a longer route to charge you extra (which sadly happens sometimes with metered taxis).

The Schiphol Hotel Shuttle takes you to virtually every hotel in Amsterdam in a comfortable 8-seater van with free wifi. This service guarantees departure at intervals of maximum 30 minutes so you will never have to wait longer than half an hour.
