As of 2018 the biyearly funfair on Amsterdam’s Dam Square no longer exists. The city council has decided to no longer grant permits for this location in order to limit the crowds in the city center of Amsterdam.
When the city council abolished the funfair in 1876, days of riots broke out in the city. The army had to come in calm down the riots.
Save money at the funfair
On so called Euro Days (‘Eurodag’ in Dutch) almost all rides cost only €1 per person. Some larger rides are excluded but they usually offer reduced rate on Eurodag.
