Did you know that a rijsttafel (‘rice table’) is composed of many Indonesian side dishes served in small portions such as egg rolls, curries, seafood, satay, banana fritters, veggies and sambals accompanied by rice prepared in different ways? The rijsttafel was introduced in the Netherlands with the relocation of many Dutch-Indonesians in the early 1950’s and is a great way to sample numerous Indonesian dishes in one meal.
