The controversial statue of Jan Pieterszoon Coen (1587-1629) in the city of Hoorn has been accidentally pushed over by a crane truck today. The statue of the governor-general of the Dutch East Indies had been standing there since 1893 but lately voices raised to remove the statue due Coen’s gruesome methods of leadership.
