Did you know that Valkenburg Castle is the only elevated castle in the Netherlands? The castle was built during the 11th century and destroyed in 1672.

Today you can visit the ruins and see the remains of the Knight’s Hall, artillery room, chapel and underground tunnels used as escape routes during sieges.
