  • 41 Dutch athletes participated in long-track speed skating, short-track speed skating, bobsleigh and snowboarding.
  • TeamNL won 24 medals: 8x gold, 7x silver and 9x bronze. This is a Dutch record for the Winter Olympics. The previous record stood at 11 medals  (1998 Nagano, Japan).
  • Out of the 36 Olympic medals up for grabs for long-track speed skaters, the Dutch won no less than 23 medals.
  • The Netherlands is the first country to achieve four clean sweeps at the same Winter Olympics. At the events for men’s 500m, men’s 5,000m, men’s 10,000m and in the women’s 1,500m the podiums turned all orange.
  • Speed skater Jorien ter Mors competed in both short-track and long-track speed skating. She is the first Dutch athlete to compete in two different disciplines.
